HuntSpace Database This database system is aimed at the small to medium business that wants to set up a online store or information center. It can be used as a online Cars For Sale, Computer Parts Sale, or Forum. This Database has the ability of being a small Database or even a quite large Database. This gives flexibility and makes it easy to administer. Depending on your requirements you can include images as part of your records for your display, bold headings and many more features. As your primary data entry point you can use a spreadsheet program like Excel and you can even export items from programs like Quickbooks and MYOB. HuntSpace Database Specifications This Database can be described as a flexible database. This means that you can have one grand database or split up into smaller ones that can make it easy and quick to search and administer. To create a database file enter all the items into a program like Excel. The columns are the field in the database and the lines are each record. Choose the number of columns (eg. item number, Description, Author, Price) this sample record has 4 columns (fields). When you have finished creating it you save it as a CSV file. Next upload this file and the database converts it into the format it uses its that simple. You can also export items from programs like Quickbooks and MYOB. Administration area. Only the Data Base Administrator will have access to this area because it provides all the function to administer your database system. The administration consol has 10 icons. The top row has direct administration functions, which allow the administrator to set up new users, database or remove an older one. For example a record may contain 4 fields, these may consist of a Item number a Description a Price and Note. A database may contain a thousand records and in our example each record has 4 fields. The total length of each record may be 250bytes so each field must be have a set number of bytes that total the record length. With our example the Item field may have 25bytes, Description 150bytes, Price 25bytes and the Note field 50bytes this totals to the length of the record of 250bytes. This may sound complex but it becomes easy once you start to enter data because you realize a line of data in the spreadsheet is one record and each column is a field. For a search program to find a single record in hundreds of records there must be some set order of the database format for it to find it. close
